Pre-installed phone sofware

I just purchased a motorola slvr L7c from ebay, which claimed that it had no service provider. When i recieved the phone it was for cricket networks, which had cricket software on it (i.e. the animation when the phone starts and some other cricket programs). Is there any I can uninstall this software to use with my local service?

what is your local service and since the phone is a L7c i hope you have a CDMA provider and alot of the time they will not activate ESNs that are not from their network but you can try it.

Now why would you need to remove the ESN number from the phone, just to reconfigure the settings?

Change (swap) yes, but "legally remove" as you stated above no. Who is your service provider?

it is illegal to remove the esn off the phone even though you own the phone you do not own the esn.
there are ways around it but those will not be discussed here

Scoot when I asked the OP who the service provider was, it was only to tell him if the service provider would even allow the phone to be activated on the network. I would never tell someone to to remove an ESN number.
AFAIK Sprint won't allow any phone that is not set up to work on their network to be activated under any circumstances, and although I have heard of people getting old Nokia phones that are from another CDMA carrier to be activated on Verizon, they to have made this almost imposable as well.

OK. :) I would suggest that the OP do a google search for dealers in his area that will do phone reflashing. If you don't fully understand how to reflash your phone, you could possibly "brick it". From what I understand reflashing the CDMA phones software is a little more involved than the GSM phones.

On some CDMA phone models it is hard, but Motorola's seem to be the easiest as far as reflashing goes. With the OP having a Motorola L7c, he shouldn't have a problem as long as he finds a person who is knowledgeable in this area.
