What do you think of the new Sanyo M1 phone from Sprint?

I have used 95% Sanyo phone for the past 6 years, and everytime I try LG, of Motorola, I hate the new handset, and return it for a Sanyo. Now I want to upgrade to the new M1..

I'd go with the Sanyo M1, Hands Down! I have had many phones, I've been with Sprint for over 7 years and have owned at least 21 different phones from them, and Sanyo has ALWAYS had the best build quality, and usability. Plus they take a beating with no problem. My second fav. is Samsung M610 (it lacks a few features of the Sanyo, but is much slimmer). I am leaving my Samsung A-920 for the M1, and my wife is leaving an A-900 (blade) for the M610. My M1 is ordered already, can't wait to get it after all the reviews and research. Good luck.

I have the Sanyo M1 and I LOVE IT it's a hard, stable phone, great reception, I had the Sanyo 7400 which I loved, the Sanyo 8300 Ehhh was ok, the A920 which I hate, the a900m which I DOUBLE HATE and now the Sanyo M1 and Best phone hands down. I love the internet speeds I get in my laptop using blue tooth tethering, and the keyboard is nice and comfy :)

The M1 is pretty nice...but a little to thick for my taste.

I really no little about Sanyo phones, but I did play around with the Katana for a couple of minutes, and what I liked about it was that is is very customizable. Other manufacturers should learn from that.

Just one example. When you use a picture for caller ID, you can select which part of the picture is displayed, and you get to do this with both displays. So if the person is off to the side, you can make it display off center of the picture, so the person will be in the center.

Any many other nice cute features. These features cost manufacturers NOTHING so why don't they do it more?

It's not very attractive to me at all. I know alot of people dont care much about the phone's looks, but I do. I want it to look just as good as it works. I refuse to carry around some ugly piece of crap. As much as it's up to my ear and plastered in my hand due to extreme texting, it's required to look good.
The M1 just don't do it for me.

The phone isnt that bad looking, it works like a charm and i'd recommend it to anyone looking for a nice high end phone, as long as they dont care too much about looks.

Aww, don't take it personally! I know tons of people who say my Fusic looks like some goofy Fisher Price toy from WalMart. But I love it, so I don't care.
So don't be offended! I didn't mean it.
:duh:

My opinion on the M1 (this really came as a shocker to me).

I'm a Samsung fangirl from head-to-toe. I've always been anti-Sanyo for their lack of design ingenuity and, what I felt was an overall ugliness encasing their phones from the inside, out.

Until the M1, it seems. I think it's a brick, and it's relatively unattractive but I think Sanyo nailed the colors, keeping it dark so it will appear more slim. Call me crazy, but I really think Sanyo got this one right (well, pretty damn close). I just assume, with their track record, that the M1 is going to be "it" for at least a year. They won't be releasing anything ultra-special of the M1's caliber in the upcoming quarters, from where I stand. I am open to them proving me wrong, though. The last time they made an impression on the market was with the 9000, I believe (I'm still wondering WHY that phone was so hyped). The M1 rubs the 9000's face in the mud, though.

Plus, the M1 can do something no other Sprint phone can: it can almost multitask. You can listen to music while doing (some) other things, like texting. It's still a limited feature, but the M1 can multitask better than any other Sprint phone (PDA phones excluded, obviously). This is a HUGE benefit, IMO, and is something the LX550 ("Fusic") failed at providing--and they call the 550 a music phone. What a joke. (I own an LX550, I think it's an okay phone, so don't overreact to that fact that it's a joke as a music phone. Unless you can argue that Sprint and LG did it right, which I will gladly argue right back.)

So, all in all, I basically want an M1. I like it. A lot. Regardless of its exterior.

The only reason I haven't changed my 9000 for an M1 is because they haven't figured out how to disable modem NAI on the M1 yet and I don't want to risk it, I use tethering for emergencies and really really like having that ability.

I'd love to try one, it looks like a nice phone. However that said, I would never buy one because it's not GSM. To bad.
