SonyEricsson K790a review
purchased from mobilecityonline store for $422 after tax, not bad
the look of the phone reminds me the old day of T637 this phone has 2 upgrade and 2 downgrade from W810i upgrade: better cam (3.2mpx with real flash) better LCD (18 bit QVGA, can view clock when the phone is idle), I can view the whole page of t-zones without problem, but the brightness is lower than W810 downgrade: m2 card (PSP card is a lot better, higher capacity and cheaper) tri-band (I just don't understand why SE don't put quad-band and EDGE on 2G part of K800i) flashed the phone to China version (no problem displaying and inputing Trad Chinese-using 5 stroke), but I lost auto setting retriving option reception: very good, but a little bit weaker than Z710i voice: some complains very low volume, you need to align a bit to get the loudest sound, the mic is pretty good keypad: a lot bigger than W810, the joystick is OK, it's a little bit recessed, you can't get the phone out of idle by pressing center button, you need to press return button bt: this is one of the strongest part of the phone, a lot of bt profile HSP/HFP wireless headphones Sync Serial DUN bt router OBEX (ftp, push, vcf) cam: it is good, but I found it a lot of color grain background when taking pic indoors, and the flash makes the pic darker audio player: I don't use it much, mainly I use it for streaming audio, it works well with realaudio and 3gp, but I found some does not have stereo it supposed to (e.g. BBC) battery: since I use it as streaming audio player and/or modem, the battery time becomes pretty short, but I get more than 4 hours for continuous tethering, 6 hours for continuous streaming audio through wired headphones conclusion: this is a high-end SE phone, but I realize Z710i may work better if you don't need good cam, at least it has quad-band 2G, and it's a lot cheaper |
