Sprint Ev-DO "where you can experience wireless data speeds averaging 400 to 700 Kbps with peak rates up to 2.0 Mbps."Cingular EDGE "Average download speeds of 70 - 135 kilobits per second (Kbps),Burst speeds up to 200 Kbps"You should note that Cingular is starting to rollout Broadband Connect, which will provide speeds comparable to Ev-DO.

Not really an answer, but I've used both. I found both to be very slow and intermittant. YMMV. But, I couldn't see any speed difference as both seemed slower than modem connections.

That's like comparing dial up to cable. With the new EVDO Rev A speeds can be stupid fast. My new EX720 Express card gets an average of 1074 Kps in my location where even my Sprint A900 USB tethered EVDO phone only got 400 Kps. I am totally WOWed...

Please keep in mind that Cingular also has the true 3G HSDPA (faster than EDGE) network in several locations.

I second that. Especially around Illinois. As always, check your local coverage...

If memory serves, Verizon capped their network at 2.4 mbps, whereas Cingular is capping at 3.6, although only the V3xx can hit that speed right now out of their current lineup. However, rumor has it Cingular has it already set so they can hit 7.2 when they are selling a lineup that will support that.
Of course speculation is useless, right now I'd say they are both pretty even and if they aren't its only because Cingular has released future capability, while Rev A doesn't do much to bump up over 2.4. Of course, WIMAX is a TOTALLY different story. |

With EVDO if I tether with my A900 I get 890 - 930 kbps down, with the A920 I get 800 - 870. Thats pretty quick IMO. With roadrunner lite cable you only get 763. For sure fast enough to tether a laptop and get on the net. I dont know about the :X: but I know the Sprint slappin cowboy commercial was funny. :)
