Exciting news!!!

This is confirmed information but I have no confirmation on exact details, release dates etc....

Coming in the 2nd half of the year, T-mobile will launch myfaves messaging services...how it will work and all the details remain unknown. However, I have confirmed information that such myfaves services are coming. Also, while the 3g services are going up in the form of 8,000 umts towers, T-mobile will not be concentrating on video, tv services. They will instead work on moving the network to handle more call volume, improving call sustainability, etc...

Details to come as they are released...

I only use my phone for calls and SMS only so the TV thing doesn't matter at all. 3G will be awesome when they finish it.

Well there wasn't anything mentioned about that not occurring down the road, but there was plenty of indication that that is not the focus of the rollout. I can't remember the actual stats, but the video we watched talking about it from the engineering people talked about the increase in the ratio of call volume, something like umts towers can handle 6 calls for every 1 from an already in place tower. Something like that. Those numbers aren't exact.

There was tremendous emphasis on them not wanting to compete with the 3g services like tv, video though nothing was mentioned about high speed internet. Nothing to indicate future devices with 3g speeds or not. I found that to be intriguing that nothing was mentioned, I was hoping to hear something with regards to whats in the pipeline.

Sounds like some terrific progress and new services to look forward to. Regarding TV, I could care less, as I cannot imagine watching a program on that small of a display.

Cheers...

Streaming multimedia is great, but I'm glad to see that T-mob has their priorities in line.

Precisely!

I must say that as much as I have enjoyed good service and great deals on phones with Cingular/at&t. T-Mobile does present a very compelling business plan with great execution.

I have used their WiFi service with my ThinkPad laptop for several years and have enjoyed trouble free service.

If they had the coverage in my hometown, as well as in the various areas I travel to, I would give them serious consideration. However I simply travel too many places throughout the US, the UK and other countries, for them to be a viable carrier for me.

Do they know when T-Mobile will launch 3G in NYC? Dang no phone even shown yet. I hope we see some T-Mobile USA 3G phones at the CTIA show that starts tomorrow.

End of summer is still the tentative release date with other large market cities lighting up shortly after that. Chicago being one of them which is all I really care about...haha sorry!!! I have not heard anything about the devices but I am still researching this and wondering whether or not SE might once again come back into the fold. I spoke to a motorola rep the other day as I get a large chunk of their workers as their offices are closest to my location and I'll keep digging for ya Terry.....

Nice to see you posting over here Terry!!!
